Toshiba Corporation announced the launch of the low-power Bluetooth® integrated circuit "TC35667FTG" that supports Bluetooth® Low Energy(LE)[1] communication. Sample shipments start today.
Recently, Bluetooth® Smart [2] devices with Bluetooth® LE compatibility have been increasing. Toshiba's new integrated circuit design uses an original low-power circuit design and integrates an efficient DC-DC converter to reduce peak current consumption to less than 6mA and deep sleep current consumption to less than 100nA. The product extends the life of small coin cell batteries and enables Bluetooth® LE communication technology for small devices such as wearable healthcare devices, sensors and toys.
The IC also integrates an ARM® processor that supports downloading and executing client programs stored in EEPROM. The product supports application customization without the need for any external microcontroller.
Toshiba will expand its lineup of devices to include automotive applications to support a wide range of Bluetooth® smart devices.
