Last week we reported on Broadwell's part of Intel's next-generation Tick-Tock strategy. Now Pat Bliemer, head of Nordic operations at the company, told Nordic Hardware that Intel has tested the 14nm process in the lab. Broadwell The development has entered an early stage. While other companies are still struggling with 32nm or 28nm, since the 22nm Haswell early engineering sample has appeared, it is not particularly surprising that 14nm Broadwell entered the lab R&D stage.
Pat Bliemer also confirmed that Intel’s Tick-Tock strategy is proceeding smoothly. If Haswell/Broadwell does not postpone it, it will officially appear in 2013/2014. Broadwell will also be Intel's first true SoC-designed CPU with integrated network card, Thunderbolt or USB 3.0 capabilities.
Currently Intel is the world's first mass-produced 32nm process chip and the industry's first manufacturer to use 22nm "3D" transistors, or Tri-Gate transistor technology.
