Categorized by the materials, Printed Circuit Board can be divided into Flexible PCB, Rigid PCB,Flexible & rigid PCB, Aluminium PCB and etc. Rigid printed circuit boards use a solid, rigid substrate material like fiberglass that remains the board from twisting.
Generally, the substrate in a flexible board is a flexible plastic. This fundamental material permits the board to fit into forms that inflexible boards cannot & to turn or shift during use without harmful the circuits on the printed Circuit Board.
Rigid flex boards merge technology from both flexible and rigid circuit boards. An easy rigid-flex boards comprises of a rigid circuit board that joints to a flex circuit board. These boards can be more compound if design requests demand.
There are many names for these products; Aluminum clad, aluminum base, Metal clad printed Circuit Board (MCPCB), Insulated Metal Substrate(IMS or IMPCB), Thermally conductive PCBs, etc- but they all mean the same thing and perform the same way-----A thin layer of thermally conductive but electrically insulating dielectric is laminated between a metal base and a copper foil. The copper foil is etched into the desired circuit pattern and the metal base draws heat away from this circuit through the thin dielectric.
