Passing Xbox Abandon CD-ROM Drives Using SSDs or Memory Cards

March 13 news, according to technology website BGR reported, sources revealed that Microsoft's next-generation video games and home entertainment platform Xbox 720 will use network downloads and support hot-swappable solid state drives or memory cards instead of traditional optical drives.

It is reported that the news comes from within Microsoft. The current Xbox 360 already supports the digital content distribution model and Microsoft is expected to continue to increase its support for non-physical media. In addition, the news also denied rumors that the Xbox 720 will support Blu-ray Disc.

Microsoft official did not comment on this news. It is understood that the Xbox 720 will be officially launched in 2013, and Microsoft is likely to display this product at the E3 exhibition held in June this year.
